IMEI inventory management
IMEI inventory management gives every handset its own record, keyed to the IMEI printed on the box, so you can trace any phone from the delivery it arrived on to the receipt it left on.
Six handsets of the same model are six different phones with six different histories. When one goes missing, you need to know which one.
Counting does not work for phones
Most stock systems track quantities. Twelve in, four out, eight left. That works for phone cases. It falls apart for handsets, because the eight left are eight specific phones, and every question you get asked is about a specific one.
Which phone did Amina take out on Tuesday. Which one is the customer holding at the counter saying it never worked. Which one came in on the delivery your supplier is now disputing. A quantity cannot answer any of that.
One record per handset
StockRada holds a row for every unit, keyed to its IMEI. Everything else attaches to that row:
- the delivery it came in on, with the supplier and invoice behind it
- cost price and selling price, held separately
- every change of hands, with a name and a timestamp
- the sale, the price actually agreed, and the receipt
- the warranty, and any claim raised against it

IMEIs get checked as you enter them
An IMEI is fifteen digits, and the last one is a check digit calculated from the other fourteen. StockRada verifies it at the point of entry, so a transposed pair gets caught at the counter while the box is still in your hand. Without that check you find out months later, when a warranty claim will not match anything.
Scanning avoids the problem altogether. A phone camera or a USB barcode scanner works anywhere the product asks for a code.
Dual-SIM handsets
Plenty of handsets carry two IMEIs. StockRada stores a second identifier against the same unit, so a phone that goes out under one number and comes back under the other is still the same record.
Not only phones
Each category sets its own identifier. Motorbike dealers track chassis numbers, solar distributors track panel serials, SIM distributors track ICCIDs. The length and checksum rules follow the type of code rather than being guessed from how many digits it happens to have.
Knowing who has it
Identifying the handset only helps if you also know who is holding it. Stock is assigned to a named person, who confirms receipt on their own phone. Until they confirm, it has not moved. That confirmation protects the person carrying the stock as much as it protects the business.
