Motorcycle inventory management tracks each bike by its chassis or VIN number rather than by model, so you can trace a specific machine from the container it arrived in to the customer who bought it.

A motorbike is registered against a chassis number, financed against a chassis number and disputed over a chassis number. Your stock records need to be keyed to the same thing.

Chassis numbers, not model counts

A chassis number runs to seventeen characters, carries its own check digit, and leaves out the letters I, O and Q because they are too easy to confuse with 1 and 0. StockRada knows the format. It validates the shape, verifies the check digit where your units carry one, and tells the person entering it which character to look at again instead of rejecting the whole thing.

Imported units often do not carry a check digit at all. You can turn the checksum off for a category without losing the rest of the validation.

Bikes and parts behave differently

A dealership sells both and they have almost nothing in common, so StockRada keeps them as separate categories with separate rules.

Bikes carry a chassis number, a high unit value and a long warranty. Parts might carry a serial, a batch code, or nothing at all. Each category names its own identifier and decides whether one is required, so a carton of brake pads never asks anyone for seventeen characters.

Finance and fleet sales

When a unit goes out on finance or into a fleet, the record of which chassis went to which customer on which date is the document everyone comes back to. It is on the receipt and in the unit's own history.

Stock across branches
